Model horse scales - the true way to scale a model so it is correct.

Model horse scales - the true way to scale a model so it is correct.

Model horse scales can be confusing at times. I have uploaded a chart to show different scales and their sizes. These are all to the “withers”.

How are scales worked out?

Take for example a Breyer littlebits horse? (Sometimes called Curios scale, also the same as Schliech)

These are 1/24th scale. Meaning you would need to stack 24 of these little model horses on top of each other to make a full size horse. An average horse is 60” to the withers so 60 divided by 24 (remember the scale is 1/24th) = 2.5” at the withers.

These are the true way of working out scales. Beware that some people will just choose a size and pick a scale out of the air, So rest assured that when you purchase a model it is to accurate scale for the breed of horse.
